Earthquake at Dawn
This book, by Kristiana Gregory, about the 1906 San Francisco earthquake was a very mediocre novel. I enjoy reading non fiction, however this book was rather unappealing. It followed some of the journeys of, at the time, twenty-two-year-old photographer Edith Irvine. The book did include some of the photographs I believe Irvine actually took during this natural disaster. The book is based on the story of Edith Irvine, but is told by Daisy Valentine, a domestic helper. One would think that a book about an earthquake would be riviting and action-packed, but it was a very long sad story. I would not recommend this book.
